Super-Ada encourages women to IT

What is it like to work in the technology industry and where can you study IT? Super-Ada 2020 event on February 7th 2020 at Helsinki City Hall, Finland aims at encouraging girls and young women to study technology by representing the IT industry now and in the future.

The event is organized for the sixth time by an independent network of women in IT. The main goal is to attract especially girls and young women to the IT industry. In addition to that, the event brings together female influencers, learning institutions and corporations within the industry.

The primal theme of the event is a fun competition track consisting of different technology-related work tasks. The girls compete in teams of 3-4. There are eight different stations and the winning team will be rewarded with summer jobs. There were also some other prizes such as headsets.

Super-Ada has already drawn lots of attention

– It`s wonderful that the event has gained a lot of interest, tells Suvi Erjanti, founder of Super-Ada.

During the event the participants have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with technology education on the exhibition stands as well as hear the career stories and current female influencers in IT industry.

The event is free of charge for the girls.

Time and place: Friday 7.2.2020 at 3 – 6pm in Helsinki City Hall, Pohjoisesplanadi 11-13, 00170 Helsinki, Finland.

Language: Super-Ada event will be held in Finnish, but you may take part in English and you will do fine with English at the Summer job.

Less than 24% of IT students and employees are women (a study by TIVIA, 2015). Super-Ada is aiming at getting more girls and young women in the IT industry. The campaign’s name is inspired by the world’s first programmer, Ada Lovelace.

 

IT network for women

Founded in 2006, the IT network of women which meets in Helsinki and Tampere. The network aims at providing opportunities for professional development and strengthen the position of women in the IT industry. Independent network is rotated by volunteers.
